For Teens
As a teenager, you have a lot going on in your life. From school to family to work – there are some days where it can all feel a little overwhelming. The information contained in this site is designed to help you navigate the sometimes-choppy waters of adolescence – and help you get the most out of what should be one of the most fun periods in your life.
Teens, Drugs and Alcohol
If you’re in high school, statistics show that you have likely already been given an opportunity to use drugs or engage in underage drinking. But you don’t want to become just another statistic do you? Like criminal behavior, using drugs and alcohol when in your teens can knock the rest of your life right off course. There are health risks and psychological damage that can be done as well. Everything from marijuana to Vicodin and OxyContin carry with them far too many potential problems for you to experiment with.
And if you think you have become addicted to drugs or alcohol, it is important to talk to your parents right away. This may seem tough, but they love you and are going to want to do everything in their power to help you break the cycle of addiction – even if it means spending time at a teen rehab center.
Your Money and Your Life
Be smart with your money and listen to you parents when they impart financial wisdom on you. Financial intelligence from a young age often leads to success in adulthood – and that is when you can get really cool things like a house, car and vacations! Stay in school, be sure to graduate from high school and find job opportunities wherever you can.
Teen Hygiene
Sometimes the “dirty look” is the most popular way to dress at school. That’s fine, but it doesn’t mean you should leave the house without brushing your teeth or taking a shower. How you manage bad breath, body odor and other elements of your personal hygiene has an impact on your social life. Your peers may never say anything about it to your face, but if you are unclean, they are forming an overall impression about you that is not good. All the things about hygiene your parents taught you as a young child? Continue to do those things on into adulthood!
Staying out of Trouble
Staying out of trouble can be difficult sometimes. You are constantly under siege from peers and negative influences at school or in your neighborhood. The fact is this: those young people who stay away from trouble and make good decisions about getting involved with criminal acts and illegal behavior are the ones who go the furthest in life. Be true to yourself, and understand the decisions you make today have a long-lasting impact.
We know that the teen years can be rough. The articles and information in this site are just our way of lending a helping hand through this challenging period. It is important to express yourself and be who you are – but by following a few simple guidelines and friendly advice, you can get more out of life than you ever imagined!
